IHK Examination Certificates Without Apprenticeship
The examination certificate documents the successful completion of the journeyman or final examination. It is issued by the examining Chamber of Crafts or guild.
The certificates contain, in addition to personal data, the results (points) of the individual examination areas and the overall result (grade), as specified in the training regulations. Furthermore, they bear the signatures of the chairperson of the examination committee and a person authorized by the examining body.
In craftsmanship, the examination certificate is still colloquially referred to as the “Gesellenbrief” (journeyman’s certificate). This was the predecessor to the current examination certificate. In some cases, guilds issue a “Gesellenbrief” as a certificate, but it is legally not relevant.
